Privacy on this site

This site is static editorial pages. It sets no cookies of its own, runs no analytics, has no accounts and asks for nothing. The short list below covers everything a page load actually touches.

What this site collects

Nothing that identifies you is collected by Surge Watch. There is no account system, no login, no comment thread, no newsletter and no form anywhere on the site. No cookie is set by this domain, and no analytics script, tag manager, pixel, session recorder or advertising identifier is loaded on any page.

The web server that hosts these pages keeps ordinary request logs, as effectively all web servers do. Those logs contain the requested address, a timestamp, an HTTP status, a user agent string and an IP address. They exist for security and for diagnosing faults, they are not linked to any profile, and they are not used to build one.

Third parties a page load touches

Pages here load two categories of resource from outside this domain, and both are listed so nothing is hidden. Making those requests reveals your IP address and user agent to the provider, which is unavoidable for any externally hosted resource.

  • A stylesheet and a small script bundle for layout and the mobile navigation panel, served from a public content delivery network.
  • Web fonts served from a public font host, used for the display, body and monospace typefaces.

Neither is used to identify you and neither reports anything back to this desk. If you block them, every page still renders and remains fully readable, since the layout does not depend on script for its content.

Links that leave this site

Some notes link to external references and to a commercial console. Following such a link takes you to a site with its own privacy practices, which this desk does not control and does not audit. No tracking parameters, redirect hops or shortened links are added to any outbound address on this site; every external link points at the address it displays.

Email you send

If you write to the desk, that message and its address sit in a mailbox until it is dealt with. It is used to answer you and, where a correction results, to record why a page changed. It is not added to a mailing list, not passed to anyone and not used for anything else. Ask for it to be deleted and it will be.

Children

This site is written for adults reading market data. It is not directed at children, and it collects nothing from anyone regardless of age.

Changes to this page

If the site ever begins collecting anything, this page changes first and the change is described plainly rather than buried in a longer document. Questions about it go to the address on the contact page.
